Providing Services to Improve Lives
US Against
MS was founded in 1985 by a group of dedicated people who saw
the need for an organization in Central Maryland dedicated to providing
direct services to patients with Multiple Sclerosis and related neurological
disorders. Since the beginning, our goal has been to expand the opportunities
and life choices available to MS patients and their caregivers by
providing chances for patients to improve their educational, recreational,
physical and emotional well being. To that end, US Against MS has
helped to develop and provide substantial financial support for significant
programs - the MS Day Program
and the MS Swim Program as well as other programs.
Working Compassionately to Help MS Patients
Comprised almost entirely of volunteers,
US Against MS can proudly point to a line of impressive achievements.
In addition to the programs noted above, US Against MS helped create
and fund at Montebello Rehabilitation Hospital Baltimore's only inpatient
hospital unit dedicated to the exclusive treatment of MS patients.
US Against MS has
helped fund research programs at the University of Maryland Multiple
Sclerosis Center and at Johns Hopkins Hospital and has provided direct
grants in aid to derserving patients while building its endowment
to over $750,000.
Raising Funds for New Programs
A look at our financial statements
shows that in 2001 and 2002 over 98% of revenues were used for program
expenses or to build the endowment fund. Come inside and take a more
detailed look at Marylanders Helping Marylanders.
